Konami has announced some exciting news for fans of the eFootball franchise.
To mark the celebration of 30 years, Konami are stepping the big celebrations by announcing the inclusion of Wayne Rooney for his in-game debut and ownership of full licensing rights for the use of Bundesliga side Borrusia Dortmund.
During the recent world festival, Brazil legend Zico had this to say:
“It’s an honor and a pleasure to be here with KONAMI. I’m grateful for my time as manager of the Japan National Team. I look back fondly on those moments where we achieved many great victories together and helped raise Japan’s name on the world stage. That journey has led me to this special moment today, having been featured on the cover of the game and having my name connected to the franchise.”
Shinji Namekawa President of Konami Europe further remarked:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Borussia Dortmund back to our eFootball™ family, with its iconic Signal Iduna Park, passionate supporters, and rich footballing legacy, Borussia Dortmund embodies the spirit and authenticity that KONAMI strives to deliver. We look forward to once again working with one of the true giants of German football.”
Further to this Konami has also annoucned some big community inspired events to mark the anniversay. These include:
Legendary players like England’s hero Wayne Rooney and former Wales icon Gareth Bale will join as Epic Legends Assemble starting from 21 July. Rooney will debut in a special design to commemorate the 30th anniversary with many new Legends being added throughout the year featuring a design as special as Rooney’s.
Additionally, as part of the countdown rewards beginning July 21 there will be a free chance deal for one of fifteen players that will be distributed. A selection contract also makes it possible to choose one person by logging in and fulfilling certain conditions. This selection contract will be available to receive from July 24.
Additionally, Konami has also published a new new signed license contract with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).
The best eleven players who are selected at the PFA awards will appear in the game as “2025 PFA Team of the Year” at a later date.
