Our Lady Peace have offered a new version of an old fan favorite.
Today, the band have unveiled a new version of “Whatever,” which is best known as the entrance theme for late wrestler Chris Benoit. Earlier this year, the band decided to play the song again for the first time since 2003 as a way to reclaim it from the tragedy surrounding the performer. Our Lady Peace will donate proceeds from “Whatever (Redux)” to mental health and suicide prevention initiatives. The new version can be heard here.
Vocalist Raine Maida said this about bringing this song back:
“We feel that enough time has passed that it was necessary to re-record ‘Whatever’ to help shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.”
