A new Friday the 13th game has been confirmed

IP holder Horror Inc.’s Executive Vice President, Robert Barsamian, confirmed a ‘sequel’ game in the works at San Diego Comic-Con 2025.

It sounds like a new Friday the 13th game is in the works, at least as far as its IP owner, Horror Inc. is concerned. Horror Inc. Executive Vice President, Robert Barsamian, spilled a few of the beans over the new game’s existence and development during San Diego Comic-Con 2025, going as far as to call it a “sequel game.”

Barsamian’s words were caught during Jason Universe team panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, as reported by Comicbook.com. There, he said a little bit about what fans can expect:

2017’s Friday the 13th: The Game was blast until licensing killed any continuing content on the game and eventually led to its servers shutting down.

Those are confident words to say the least, and an interesting return to a franchise that had some tumultuous times in gaming less than a decade ago. Many will remember that Friday the 13th: The Game was doing well in 2017 before an issue of licensing ended any further content on the game and effectively got it shut down. Barsamian calling the new project a “sequel game” is an interesting choice of words, and leaves us wondering if original dev/publisher teams Gun Media or IllFonic will get involved. Both have gone their own separate ways on various asymmetrical multiplayer titles.

With plans for a new Friday the 13th directly from its IP owners, at least maybe this one won’t get shut down by licensing. As we wait to see what form it takes, stay tuned to the Friday the 13th topic for more updates.
