Modern Warfare 2 and MW3 Being Removed From COD HQ App

If you’re still playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and/or Modern Warfare 3, we have some good news for you. Starting this week, players will be able to load the games on their own.

This means that the two games will be separated from the Call of Duty HQ app, which has just been a nightmare from the day it was released.

Servers will remain up with no timetable when it will be pulled.

This should also result in a smaller digital footprint for the games, which could be the most significant benefit.

Activision Announces Rare Call of Duty HQ App Win

The announcement was made by Activision via the CODUpdates X (formerly Twitter) social media account, where it announced, “On July 29 at 9am PT, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be moved from the main Call of Duty install and become standalone downloads.”

Activision added that beginning tomorrow, Modern Warfare 2 and MW3 owners can access the two titles directly after downloading each title. Legacy content related to both games (MW2 and MW3 modes within the main Call of Duty install will be automatically removed on August 7 to free up storage space.

Given how much disk space Call of Duty HQ has taken up since it was launched, I can imagine every COD player is OK with this development. Does this mean Activision will slowly separate each Call of Duty game from the COD HQ app? I certainly hope so.

Call of Duty has implemented a wide variety of skins lately. With the Halloween season right around the corner, here are the best Halloween skins.

Hopefully, this means that this year’s Call of Duty game, Black Ops 7, will be a separate download and not tied to the COD HQ app.

Aside from Black Ops 7, a new rumor has surfaced recently stating that Activision plans to expand the franchise with a new subfranchise. This means that if this rumor pans out, we’ll be getting a new series in the franchise outside of Black Ops and Modern Warfare.

Speaking of Black Ops, the upcoming seventh entry will have its multiplayer revealed sometime this summer, and chances are, it’ll be at another Call of Duty Next event where we’ll also get updates on the future of Warzone.
