Primal Planet is a delightfully unique blend of Metroidvania platforming, survival crafting, and pixel-art storytelling, developed solo by Seethingswarm. It places you in the stone-age boots of a cave dweller fighting to protect his family against dinosaurs—and something far more otherworldly.
In this part of the walkthrough, we go through the jungles of Shadewind Valley and Valleyshade Glade with our family, trying to find our way back to our village.
Reach your village (Continued)
Going to the right, you will find a pool that you can swim in but I didn’t go that way to check the bottom yet. Going up there is a path off to the left and one to the right. Taking the right path first leads you to a camp.
Checking my skill points here, I had 3. I am saving up to 8 for Agile which gives Dash. Keep going to the right.
You will see a very strange sight. Spaceships abducting dinosaurs.
Next you will run into those guys with strange skull masks on. The path they take to run off is blocked by thorns. So take the lower path lit up by torches. At the end of this path you will be in Valleyshade Glade. A little bit further up ahead is your village.
Explore your village
Warrior’s Hut
Here you will first meet the warrior, whom you can hire as a companion, learn skills from or upgrade their hut. The Warrior is a heavy damage companion and can be hired for 1 Cooked meat when unlocked. You can learn Ground Slam and Strong Spears from them. If you upgrade her hut Spears and Purple Herbs will appear next to the hut when you visit the village.
Hunter’s Hut
A little bit up ahead is the Hunter’s hut. You can hire him as a companion for 1 Fruit when its unlocked. You can learn Bone Trap Crafting and Poison Crafting from him. If you upgrade his hut Bones and Raw Meat will appear next to hut when you visit the village.
Secret Area 1
Right before the Shaman’s hut is a pool. There is a secret area here.
Shaman’s Hut
Next you will find the Shaman’s hut – whom you can Hire as companion, learn skills from and upgrade their hut. He can be hired for 1 Fruit as well. You can learn Medicine Crafting and Antidote Crafting from him. If you upgrade his hut Pink Herbs and Berries will appear next to the hut when you visit the village.
Herbalist’s Hut
A little bit further ahead (after your own hut) is the Herbalist’s hut. Same deal as before. You can learn Deep Breath Crafting and Firestarter crafting from her. If you upgrade her hut Blue Leaves and Orange herbs will appear next to the hut when you visit the village.
Villager’s Hut
Next up are the Villagers, you can hire a man or a woman. No skills to learn off them.
After you find the Villager’s hut the village will be attacked.
Escape
You can’t go back to the village as it’s burning so press forward. Take out the skull masked invaders and one Pterodactyl. Go up the waterfall, either avoid the enemies or kill them. Regardless, move into the next area – Mosscrag heights.
