With the release of Madden 26 coming up in just a few weeks, many of the ratings for players have either begun to be announced or have been leaked. Either way, with the ratings for individual players starting to trickle out into the public, talk of the “Madden 99 Club” has begun as well.
But what is the Madden 99 Club, and who will be joining it this year?
What Is The Madden 99 Club?
The Madden 99 Club is a list of NFL players who have been given a 99 rating in a Madden game. To date, not counting the upcoming Madden 26, there have been 36 mainline Madden games released. Abd since Madden 99, there have been a total of 122 players who have been given a 99 OVR rating by EA Sports.
While that may sound like a lot, it only averages to about 4.7 players being given the overall rating per game. And that number looks even smaller when you learn that in many titles, it was the same few players who were being given 99 OVR ratings each title.
For example, over the course of his career, Aaron Donald was given a 99 OVR a total of seven times in Madden. To put that into perspective, Tom Brady was only given that rating four times. The closest second to Donald is Peyton Manning, who attained a 99 OVR six times over the course of his career.
So yeah, it’s a pretty elite club to be a part of.
Who Joins The 99 Club In Madden 26?
In total, 7 players will be given a 99 rating in Madden 26 at launch. This brings the total number of players who have joined the club since Madden 99 to 129.
The players who have a 99 OVR in Madden 26 are as follows:
- Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles
- Lane Johnson, OT, Eagles
- Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens
- Josh Allen, QB, Bills
- Justin Jefferson, WR, Vikings
- Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Bengals
- Myles Garrett, DE, Browns
The choice of having Myles Garrett on here is the most interesting to me, but not for the reason that you think. Even though the Steelers fan in me is enraged to see Garrett be rated higher, it’s worth mentioning that Madden 25 gave out five 99 OVRs last year, and not one of them was a defensive player.
Obviously, with Garrett being the only defensive name in the 99 Club this year, it’s quite obvious that Madden — despite all of the promising changes it’s promised — is still an offensive-centric game, at least in terms of ability.
