Despite the recent controversies around censoring parts of the game in order to release on consoles, Void Interactive’s Ready or Not is finding quite the success.
With the game’s Steam reviews having over 31,000 mostly negative user feedback scores, it seems that it hasn’t slowed sales down as the title has just broken a major milestone

Even if Ready or Not has a lot of recent negative user reviews, its ratings on Steam overall have been “mostly positive,” though I don’t know how long that’ll stay that way..
Ready or Not Manages to Stay Popular Despite Recent Steam Reviews
In case you missed the news, Ready or Not is now available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, its console release hasn’t been meet with positivity everywhere, specifically over on Steam, where the game now has mostly negative recent reviews (over 30k at the time of writing).
The reason being? Well, in order for Void Interactive to be able to release Ready or Not only consoles, they had to go in and change certain scenes. Those changes weren’t exclusive to the console version either, as the PC version received the very same update, with many now calling it censorship on the studio’s part.
It seems even with all that controversy, it wasn’t enough to harm the game’s sales, as a recent update by the dev team mentions that Ready or Not has has already hit over a million in console sales in less than four days, and when you combine it with the sales of the early access PC version that was released in 2023, the shooter has now topped 10 million units sold overall.

The sales milestone isn’t surprising as the title has even reached the top of the PSN Store sales charts even amid all this censorship drama. Speaking of which, Void Interactive has issued a statement about it and enumerated the censored stuff.
Controversy or not, congrats to Void for another sales success. I think the main thing here is, despite all the censorship stuff, overall, Ready or Not is a good game, which contributed to its strong sales.
Our review of the shooter was quite positive about it, stating, “Ready or Not can be a little formulaic at times, but so is police work. It’s the second police game I’ve reviewed this year, but the first one I can wholeheartedly recommend.”
