When opening up Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 for the first time, you’ll notice that not every skater is the same in terms of their ability. This is mostly borne out by their stats, which reflect their different styles and specialties. Which is fair enough, considering there are three different categories of skater — Vert, Street, and Park. Listed below are the 10 stats categories:
- Air
- Hangtime
- Ollie
- Speed
- Spin
- Switch
- Flip Speed
- Rail Balance
- Lip Balance
- Manual Balance
Obviously, depending on what kind of player you are and/or the style of skating you prefer, each of these stats may be of various levels of importance. But, within the realm of the video game, which stats offer players the most consistent benefits?
The Best Stats In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

Again, I’d like to iterate that when judging each stat, I’ve taken into account how they work within a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater framework. Sure, there are different ways to play the game, but anyone familiar with the THPS formula knows that the game moves at a fast and furious pace and that most goals/collectibles require a certain kind of skillset.
With that in mind, which three stats stick out as being the most important? For me, those stats are Speed, Air, and Ollie. Especially when used in tandem. Think of them as the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Holy Trinity.
For one, the Speed attribute allows players to easily and consistently find pace while skating through a level, allowing them to build up as much momentum as they need to hit a gap or any kind of aerial maneuver. This is where Air and Ollie come in, as they both play a massive part in not just initiating a jump, but ensuring that your ollie peaks as high as it possibly can.
That’s not to say other attributes aren’t important, either. While many do not look at it as being essential, Manual Balance is key in maintaining combos, and Flip Speed is integral to making sure all of your tricks are snappy and quick, reducing the chances of you eating cement. That said, I find stats such as these to be merely compliments to the aforementioned Holy Trinity of attributes.
If your favorite skater is lacking in any of these areas, worry not — you can always level them up the more you play with them. And if you disagree with me and think there are other stats that are more important, let me know in the comments!
