Secret Tapes have forever been a part of the Tony Hawk franchise. First appearing in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (1999), these easter eggs are one of the main goals in each location, which players must find to progress. Similar to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, this tradition is also maintained by its successor.
Although it seems like a fairly simple deal, these Secret Tapes are hard to find, since developers have placed them in the places you least expect them to be. However, by following this guide, you can make your tape-hunting experience much more forgiving.
Every Secret Tape Location In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 And 4
In both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, these tapes are exclusive to the career mode. So, while other modes, such as free skate and multiplayer, allow you to play in the exact parks, you won’t find any secret tapes there.
Secret Tape Locations In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3
In this half, there are a total of six Secret Tapes hidden in each location. Before a level starts, you get a glimpse of these collectibles in each introductory sequence. However, it’s almost impossible to pinpoint the exact location, as just a glance is not enough. All that considered, here are the secret tape locations:
Foundry

Inside the gritty, industrial environment of Foundry, the tape is hidden right above the center of the map, on a narrow iron beam that spans across the factory rafters.
To bag it, use a quarter pipe ramp, which can be found by skating to the right from your starting point. From this ramp, hop onto the elevated yellow-railed catwalk. Now, follow this catwalk until you reach the glass-walled control room, then smash through the right-hand glass panel. At last, land on the beam below and grind straight across to claim your Secret Tape.
Canada

Amidst the frosty terrain and rustic woodland vibes of Canada, you’ll find the tape resting on the end of the busted mine cart rail.
All you have to do is go the opposite way from your starting point and skate back up to the entry point. There’s a wooden walkway; jump onto it, and take the left fork. Now, you have to grind on this rail to turn on a switch and raise a platform that will help you get to a higher pipe. Use a cliffside chute to access the broken rail, and grind towards the end of it; the tape is yours.
Suburbia

Similar to Canada, this tape is also hidden behind the starting point. Just above the haunted house, hanging from the American flagpole.
First, you have to get into this haunted house. Grind across the telephone wire going through the neighborhood, and it will take you straight to the rooftop. When you reach it, you can either drop right to the flagpole and make things simple or enter the attic hallway and exit from the rear balcony to hop onto the tape.
Airport

The tape at the airport is situated in the circular roundabout section, directly above the rail and adjacent to the Australian flag display.
Bagging it is also pretty simple. Skate towards this roundabout and initiate a boneless ride to get onto the top of the rail. Keep grinding along the full curve to collect the tape.
Los Angeles

In the lush atmosphere of LA, there’s a rooftop. The tape we’re looking for is located on top of a purple tower in this rooftop area.
To get it, you must complete a goal that triggers an earthquake. On completion, jump across the collapsed highway and get onto the rooftops. Now jump and grind your way across the rails until the purple tower is visible. Jump from the rail’s tip to the tower, and collect the tape.
Cruise Ship

Here, the tape is floating on high wires that are stretching across the ship’s central funnel.
The Cruise Ship also holds one of the easiest tape finds in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. If you are done admiring the oceanic beauty, head straight from your initial point to reach the center funnel of the ship by grinding along the high wire. Along this path, there’s a ramp; shoot yourself into the air and claim your Secret Tape mid-flight.
Secret Tape Locations In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4
In the second half of the game, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, you’ve got seven tapes to find. In comparison to part 3, there are fewer hidden areas to deal with. The majority doesn’t require you to unlock sheltered zones, except for two of the stages.
College

In the energetic environment of the College, focus on the clock tower, which is easily recognizable due to its height. Upon taking a thorough look, you can easily spot our tape suspended on a wire that stretches from this tower to the campus rooftop.
From the starting point, skate across the campus towards this white tower. Reach the back of it by grinding onto the handrail and getting over the stairs. Here, you’ll come across an entrance. Continue skating until you reach the top. At last, simply grind on the wire, and it will lead you towards the tape.
San Francisco

Outside the Broadwalk Hotel, the Secret Tape hovers on the ledge just off the elevated walkways and signage.
Turn left as soon as the level begins and get to the second floor by using a ramp. From here, again take the left and use another ramp. As you are airborne, swap your location with another ramp on your right. Now, the hotel’s sign will be visible, jump on it, and keep going until you collect the tape.
Alcatraz

On the prison grounds, there is a water tower that holds the Secret tape. It floats on top of a grindable rail, connecting the tower to an upper-story window.
To access this location, look for a key in the trash cans. Once found, use it to unlock the jail doors. As you skate inside the prison, reach the second floor by using a ramp, and the Secret tape will be visible, waiting for you to claim it. As seen in the picture, grind on the rail that runs under the window on the left, and it will take you straight to the top of the water tank.
Waterpark

The zone that holds the tape is situated on the second ramp of the Dual Boomerang Slide, positioned in the center and covered by the slide’s structure.
The waterpark is also one of the two stages in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 that requires you to retrieve a key to unlock the area containing the Secret tape. Reach above the Dual Boomerang and grab the key to access the arcade. Take a right, enter the doorway, and ride the slide upward. Ensure you don’t lose momentum and continue your way up through lip combos or wall riding. Now, jump near the second ramp, and the tape is yours.
Shipyard

In the middle of the two rooftops of the central warehouse buildings, the tape can be seen floating mid-air, just beneath the ventilation duct on one of the roofs.
To collect this tape, go left from your spawn point and take the first right turn. Here, you’ll see an entry point on your left; it’s your ticket to the roof. Go through it and keep an eye out for the duct exhaust as seen in the picture. Now simply take a jump and you’ll claim the tape on your way below.
London

The tape in London can be spotted above street level, between subtle environmental cues like the Canadian Embassy and the large O2 billboard.
Skate straight from your spawn point until you reach the center of the park. Here, you’ll come across a statue that can work as a ramp, use it exactly like one, and land on the wire going towards your right. Keep grinding, reach the halfpipe, and land on the bowl beside you. The tape can be seen floating, and all that’s required is one last step: simply launch yourself high enough and catch it.
Pinball

Right at the center of this stage is a large, multicolored wire ramp. The Secret tape lies just above the pinball catchment zone and is pretty prominent once you are above the ramp.
As soon as you boot up this stage, go left and skate towards the other side of the pinball table. When you reach it, keep your eyes open for a ramp with a cracked texture. Simply shoot yourself into the air using this ramp and land left onto the quarter pipe. Now, the multicolored ramp will be visible. Get onto it and bag your secret tape.
