Nintendo’s flagship racing title handily entered the company’s million-seller list and is almost a one-to-one for Switch 2 hardware sales.
Mario Kart is a franchise that has deep roots in Nintendo’s history, and the release of the latest one marked a special occasion. Mario Kart World was a launch title, and bundle tie-in, for the Nintendo Switch 2, and has been an astounding success. The game has soared past 5 million units sold since release.
On August 1, 2025, Nintendo released its Q1 FY26 earnings report which detailed how the company performed over it first quarter of its 2026 fiscal year. This was also the first quarter where the Nintendo Switch 2 would be featured in reports – and it did not disappoint. The launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, managed to sell 5.63 million units as of June 30, 2025.

The Nintendo Switch 2 managed to sell 5.82 million units as of June 30, 2025, which means it is almost a one-to-one attachment rate for Mario Kart World and the new console. This is largely thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle, offering consumers good value-for-money for those that were getting the racing game anyway.
These first several million units is one step on the path to overtaking Nintendo’s best-selling Switch game, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This entry currently sits at 68.86 million units sold.
